Finding a Satisfying Internship
I started out last year as a freshman at Chapman University, unaware of the opportunities that would come my way. I am now a sophomore, currently majoring in Communication studies and the biggest lesson I learned this summer, is that when an opportunity for an internship arises, TAKE IT! Like so many of you, I have always wondered what type of career I would like to have when college is over, but never really knew which field would suit me best. Someone me advised me try out different jobs when I’m in school to gain experience and knowledge so that when the time came for me to choose a job, I would be better suited for it. I am only a sophomore, so I figured there is plenty of time. Greek life is one of the best things I am involved in, and one of my sisters in my sorority had been working at an internship that was seeking a few people to do street team marketing. Fyi, that is a great way to gain experience and something future employers will find interesting. I was able to polish my skills of talking to people and advertising what the company was selling. Working as a street team marketing member for the company made me really interested in what the company does. The company distributes movies and they were then working on a project to publicize a film in numerous theaters. I thought that it was just a temporary weekend job and never would I think it would lead to something even better that will benefit me heavily in the future.
